The Villages of Detroit Events
The calendar contains information for meetings from our neighborhood partners, local businesses and other stakeholders.
Village Pride
Nestled on Detroit’s east side and full of historic homes, restaurants and coffee shops, the Indian Village and West Village neighborhoods have become a destination for the LGBTQ community to take up residence.
Indian Village has been a long-time home to affluent LGBTQ professionals, and businesses like Marrow, The Red Hook and Two Birds are queer-owned or LGBTQ-friendly.
To honor and celebrate the queer residents who make up the area, friends and Village residents Steth Huebner and Xavier Kimbrough launched Village Pride Detroit in 2024, which highlighted several businesses in the neighborhood and featured entertainment from local artists.
“I saw that there were other events happening during Pride Month, and we said, ‘What can we do to make that happen?’ And so, we put our heads together,” Kimbrough said. “It’s the combination of preserving what’s happened over here (in the Villages), but understanding that there also is a larger scale of queer people in the city.”

PASC Forward : A Fundraiser for Progressive Arts Studio Collective
A Fundraiser for Progressive Art Studio Collective
Launched in 2021 PASC is the first progressive/supported art studio for adults with disabilities in Detroit and Wayne County. PASC operates 3 studios and 2 galleries across Detroit, Southgate, and Westland, and supports more than 190 artists with disabilities each week.
Over the past five years PASC artists have participated in over 72 exhibitions and events, locally, nationally and internationally. Many of our artists are earning a consistent income from sales and several artists are now in museum collections and important private collections.
PASC is forging ahead to foster significant artistic opportunities for artists with disabilities, building sustainable art careers for our artists, platforming disabled perspectives, and elevating culture at large to see disabled people as unique artistic talents.
Come join us for an amazing evening celebrating PASC during our fifth year. Help us build up our foundation so we can continue to build successful careers for artists with disabilities and transform the contemporary art world.
The night will feature the premiere of Danille Eliska's film about PASC, PASC artists presenting success stories on what they have achieved, a paddle raise, wine and beer by Cøllect, great food, music by Problematic Black Hottie, plus fun and camaraderie.
